Powertech Select Motorcars is pleased to offer this blast from the past, one of the original hot-hatches, a 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger. This example is finished in Garnet Red/Radiant Silver over Grey interior and is equipped from the factory with the manual sunroof, air conditioning, rear defroster, tourneau cover and rear window louvers. It is believed to be mostly stock, only known modifications are aftermarket boost gauge and radio head unit. It has a clean CARFAX and shows 28,342 miles but likely 128,342.

Though we focus on Porsche, Shawn has always had a soft spot for the Shelby Chargers. His dad bought a new one in Garnet Red in 1985 when he was a kid, then Shawn bought his own 1987 (also Garnet Red) in high school in the early 90's that somehow lasted him though grad school but not much longer, lol.

We purchased this example in the spring of 2021 to have a little fun with and fix up a bit and now it is time for the next owner to enjoy it.

Since we owned it, we have done the following:

- May 2023: Installed new coolant temperature sensor
- April 2023: Oil and filter change, repaired connection of vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator and disconnected the O2 sensor.
- Oct 2022: Installed new windshield
- July 2021: Installed new starter motor
- June 2021: Installed new Continental Extreme Sport summer tires

Besides having the expected squeaks and rattles of a 38-year-old K-car, the interior driver side directional light not working (exterior lights work fine) and air conditioning not blowing cold, it has a drivability issue that our mechanic (who is not familiar with these 2.2 liter turbo engines) hasn't been able to diagnose.

The first few minutes the car is started from cold it feels fine, it pulls cleanly through the RPMs and relatively strong, though max boost on the aftermarket gauge reads only 5 psi (stock is 8 psi). After a few minutes of it running/warming up, it has less power and no longer pulls cleanly though the rpms. Again, the first few minutes after it is started from cold it feels fine, but after that it hesitates when accelerating, particularly under 3500 RPM. It will continue to climb in RPMs, but not cleanly. When our mechanic recently reconnected one of the vacuum hoses, it improved but it did not eliminate the issue.

Not a garage queen, but overall a very nice, clean driver. Awesome car for Cars & Coffee and car shows. These are relatively rare these days, we have received lots of compliments/thumbs-up and enjoyed sharing stories about them with numerous enthusiasts.
