Originally bought this car in 2020 at 105.5k miles and did the following: LN Engineering IMS bearing, clutch kit, resurface flywheel, RMS, installed used muffler, refinished the brake calipers/ rear bumper cover and paint correction.
Sold it to a buyer from the Atlanta area in early 2021 who put on a total of 4K miles through last week when I just repurchased it. During those 4 1/2 years and only 4K miles, the owner put in over $19k in maintenance and upgrades.
2021: pass window regulator and door latch
2022: new front and rear rotors and pads, new Bilstein PSS9 coilovers ($$), new rear axles, used wiper assembly, oil & filter change, 7mm wheel spacers, 997 shifter, cat-less performance headers with O2 sensors and cat pipe set, reflashed ECU with performance software, new transmission mounts and engine mount. New Sony touchscreen head unit with Bluetooth and review camera. New Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires (date codes from 2021)
2024: used alarm module, new battery, replaced brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinders, brake hose and replaced brake fluid.
I just got the car back last week and here’s my assessment:
The good: drives extremely well and sounds great, all the history of recent maintenance (IMS, clutch, brakes, tires) and upgrades (PSS9’s, exhaust, 997 shifter, ECU tune, radio, etc).
The bad: glass rear window in soft top is missing (soft top in good/very good condition), air conditioning blows warm (did not diagnose cause), electronic oil level indicator flashes when cars starts/key in “on” position (though it is old enough to have an actual dipstick which shows oil level is just fine!). Cosmetically it has numerous scratches, two dings (fender and quarter panel), “reverse ding” on hood that cracked the paint, paint has heavy oxidation particularly on hood, headlights and rear deck lid. In addition, the paint has clear coat failure on the windshield header and deck lid. Cracked passenger tail lamp. The driver door appears to have been repainted at some point as there is some chipping near the top edge of the window trim.
Clean title in hand and invoices for all maintenance/upgrades listed above. Has set of manuals and toolset, one key (though working on getting the second key, but no promises I will have it).
Trade-ins welcome.
: paint correction and headlights done. Still $8.5k or $9.9k with a used 986.1 Metropol Blue soft top w/ vinyl window installed
